Our New Home Away From Home
Progress Update: Day 1 & 2 (And We're Off!)
"Tent (check!) Sleeping bags (check!) Cooking stove (check!) Wedding dress...Mmmm...Wedding dress?!? Hmmm...There is no room for the wedding dress in the car!
After a strenuous bit of creative packing, we're off and on the road (yes, we finally managed to get the wedding dress in too)! Yesterday we drove furiously putting in some serious miles beyond Grand Meadow. We cruised through Minnesota and later dodged flooded road ways, thunderstorms & tornadoes in North Dakota. Really now, we found North Dakota to be quite exciting in terms of weather at least! After a short distance of night driving through Montana (with tremendous lightning shows to keep us entertained) we managed to successfully cross into the Canadian border at the port at Raymond at 11 p.m. mountain time. Whew! Energized by our successful encounter with border patrol, Mike and I pushed on into the early morning finally coming to a quick (but intentional) halt around 3 a.m. (maybe?) at a city campground somewhere in Saskatchewan just off the road. What campground? Not too sure. What road? Not too sure either. Exhausted, Mike grabbed a sleeping bag and found a nice patch of grass/gravel/insect den outdoors upon which to sleep for a few hours. After some sleep, we woke up to sun at 5 a.m. and jumped in the car, ready to view Saskatchewan in its early morning glory. Well rats, guess what? A good bit of Saskatchewan looks just like Grand Meadow. Flat + Farming + Windy. Oh well...Alberta is up next this afternoon!
